Once again Mr. Brogan has graciously featured me on his blog. I am learning so much about what social media can and can’t do for a small business and I will be sharing those thoughts shortly. The most important thing I have learned so far is, if you have an idea just try it and if someone else has an idea that could benefit you, swallow your pride and also try it, and then let them know how it turned out. People may not have the money right now to throw around but there is alot of really useful information and suggestions if you are not afraid to ask. We all really need to work together or places like mine are going to be closing, one after the other.

I am sure if any of you spend any real time on Twitter or Plurk you have come across Ms. @devyl She is one feisty devil and a great conversationalist. Well not too long ago I was honored to have her come in and try some of my food and she wrote a great blog post about her experience. Thank you kindly for your nice words!!! And I will always whip something special up for you.

Another selfless act of Social Media trying to help

I received a tweet from @mark_hayward offering some more great ideas on using social media to help the small struggling busineeses out there. And I agree social media can help, I have received over 50 suggestions on ways to increase my sales and grow my business from all over the world. I will admit without the help of a Mr. Chris Brogan, twitter, wordpress, and facebook none of this would have come to fruition this easily. It seems to me like this is a very sensitive subject to people as most people that make their living online are also small business owners. The snowball of the economy is not going to leave anyone unscathed but social media is about crowdsourcing and utilizing the knowledge of people that are all over the world. I can’t imagine the response I would have gotten if I were to go on the street and ask 1000’s of random people what they would do. It seems to me like the online social denizens really do want to help each other and contribute how they can whether it be financially or intelectually. I was honored to have Chris feature me, but I also hope that other small business owners take notice of the power of Social Media, are you all going to be able to come in and buy something, of course not; however you have helped me see the tools and implementations that will allow me to do that for myself. In the kitchen as in life two heads are better than one, in this case 2 blog posts and thousands of tweets are better than none.

I would like to share the article Mr. Hayward sent my way and also give him some link love for his business(which if I ever get a vacation I am definitely going there!!)

And Mark’s business

I would highly suggest if you know someone struggling in these difficult times they need to read Mark and Chris’ blog posts
